Questions, answered.
Everything about the mac, how to cook it, and how to get your hands on a box.
The mac
What’s in a box of Mara’s Mac?
Elbow pasta made from durum wheat semolina, plus a packet of cheddar cheese sauce mix. You add a splash of milk and a little butter at home.
Each 170 g box makes about three servings.
Which allergens does it contain?
Milk and wheat. Allergens are shown in bold in the full ingredient list on the product page.
Are there artificial flavours or colours?
No artificial flavours. The sauce gets its golden colour from paprika extract.
Do you make other flavours?
Right now it’s one recipe, done properly: Macaroni & Classic Cheddar.
Cooking
How long does it take to make?
About ten minutes. Boil 1.5 litres of water, cook the pasta for 7–8 minutes, drain, then stir in the cheese sauce mix with 60 ml milk and 30 g butter.
Can I use plant-based milk or butter?
You can stir the sauce together with whatever milk and butter you like. The cheese sauce mix itself contains milk, so the finished dish isn’t dairy-free.
